Ska R’yth is a small volcanic continental island mass situated in the northern sea of Auber Zhien, which is a realm that has occupied a seemingly forgotten corner of the Prime Material Plane, until recently.
Though small and out of the way, Ska R’yth is a very important place to the history of Auber Zhien, and indeed the rest of all creation. It is a nexus of great magical power, likely due to a high concentration of Menhir Rings and Ley Lines. The original inhabitants were beings of great magical ability and they lived a mostly peaceful existence, until one day they were invaded by malevolent insectoid race from another plane.
Very quickly the situation became critically dire and they pooled their magical abilities to attempt a solution. However, they drew on power too great and the concentrative powers of the island intensified the problem eventually causing a rupture and tear in the very fabric of the magically energy that flows through all of the planes, indeed all things. A great catastrophe ensued wiping out most of the civilization
