DL 56 – Spicy Jalapeno!


After discovering a fresh tunnel leading down from the basement under the theater (See: DL 55 – A Night at the Opera ), the party meets up with Ted then made their way into the moist, fetid depths…

  • Rough-hewn, biological-looking tunnels. Walls are slick and fibrous in places—clearly dug by something non-human (Olthoi claws and acid).
  • The air is humid, tinged with acrid acid and fungal spores. The faint hum of insect wings or whispering telepathy echoes irregularly.
  • Subtle pulsing veins or bioluminescent purples and greens run through the walls in patches.
  • Sound: Dripping acid, distant clicking, muffled groans of the enslaved.

  • Down main tunnel with  small side passages where larval Olthoi are gestated in “pods”
  • main trail goes forward, side passages are smaller, with acid traps
  • Swarm attack, 5 Olthoi Nymphs, emerge from their pods and surround the party with wet clicking and screaming pheromones
  • The party makes short work of the young bug monsters
  • They continue
  • Windy path downwards, goo, acid, fungus on the walls, floor ceiling of caverns
  • Tunnel twists downward unevenly.
  • Acid drops occasionaly hit party members causing damage
  • Tunnel opens into wider cavern, joined up with an old mining operation so cavern part overlooks more “built” mined area – some old tools, tracks
  • This area has slaves digging more tunnels as well as feeding egg nurseries with acid which seeps from crask in some parts of the wall. They gather it then carry over and dump it in. They are kobolds, Drudges and other varied humanoids. The Drudges and Kobolds snap at and growl at the PC species as they work. These are kept in line by Olthoi Workers
  • The party member’s friend Jalapeno Jacques is in a cage over by where 4 Virindi and 2 Grells are conversing telepathically, exchanging some gems
  • Party Attacks!!!
  • Grell makes a portal and 2 Virindi, both grells, leave . If party attacks first, they still make a portal and leave.
  • Chaos ensues. Ted falls! Jalapeno Jacques manages to escape and help kill the baddies

Starting at 1st level, You can see through the deepest gloom. You have darkvision out to a range of 300 feet. In that radius, you can see in dim light as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light.

As an action, you can magically share the darkvision of this feature with willing creatures you can see within 10 feet of you, up to a number of creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one creature). The shared darkvision lasts for 1 hour. Once you share it, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of any level to share it again.

You conjure up a wall of water on the ground at a point you can see within range. Any ranged weapon attack that enters the wall’s space has disadvantage on the attack roll, and fire damage is halved if the fire effect passes through the wall to reach its target. Spells that deal cold damage that pass through the wall cause the area of the wall they pass through to freeze solid (at least a 5-foot square section is frozen).
